  • CIRDIC visit

    Published 05/01/23

On Monday 12th of December we made our annual trip to CIRDIC, the homeless drop-in centre in Reading.

We took with us 6 students, bags full of socks and pants (kindly donated by our school community), sweets, homemade Christmas cards and a very big Christmas tree!

It was lovely to see how happy everyone was for a bit of Christmas cheer. The students spent some time seeing how the centre worked and decorating the tree. The centre's Christmas meal was the next day so we got there just in time.

Thank you so much to everyone who sent in a donation. With the cold days ahead, they are needed more than ever.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

    Miss Marris

Once again we have had a really successful harvest donation for the local charity Readifood. The Piggott community did an excellent job and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to organise a donation!

We always have a little competition to see which tutor can gather the biggest donations and there were two worthy winners this year:

    Congratulations to 10CD and 8CC!

  • Early Career Teachers (ECT) Event

    Published 21/09/22

On Wednesday 14th September The Piggott School were pleased to host over 50 ECTs (Early Career Teachers) to a welcome event. This event was run in conjunction with the Wokingham Federation and included a number of presentations designed to welcome the local ECTs to the profession. Piggott School staff were responsible for leading the main training of the afternoon - with Mr P Smith and Mr Crawley leading a keynote speech surrounding 'Behaviour for Learning'. The event was catered by Aspens - who provided a range of outstanding food to keep all attendees going throughout the afternoon. We were thrilled to be able to host this annual event once again - and look forward to continuing our work with local ECTs.

  • The passing of Queen Elizabeth II

    Published 09/09/22

The Piggott School community is deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Our Queen served the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth for 70 years with dedication, love and grace.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Royal Family along with the millions of people worldwide who will miss her every day.

The school’s flags have been lowered to half-mast and students and staff will have time together to reflect on, and celebrate, the Queen’s life.

As we reflect on the Queen’s reign, the humility that resonated through her into the people that she met, and everything that she did, shines though. This is perhaps the Queen’s greatest legacy and why her memory will always be cherished.

‘We do not grieve like those who have no hope, for we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’ (1 Thessalonians 4:14)
