Severe Winter Weather Procedures
Published 28/02/18It is widely expected that towards the end of this week, we will continue to have very cold weather and possibly disruptive snow. As ever our principle is to remain open as usual and all is in place to grit and make the site as safe as possible. Should there be a need to consider any changes to this, we will communicate using the procedure linked below. In preparation for the cold weather please would you ensure your son or daughter wears footwear that is appropriate for the conditions.
The decision for closure before school opens will be made as early as possible. If the decision is made to close the site during the school day, this will be communicated using the same process. If you are unable to collect your child during the school day or they are unable to travel home independently, please prepare an alternative plan with an agreed place that they can stay until you are able to meet them. This will ensure that your child is able to leave the site promptly for their own safety.
In conclusion, please assume that the school is open unless communication is received regarding a planned closure.
Thank you for your continuing support.

Online Safety Evening 2018
Published 04/01/18Online Safety Evening - Wednesday 17th January 2018
The Piggott School is committed to online safety. We are always working hard to ensure that students have a consistent experience of online safety education. We aim to ensure that all students from Year 7 to Year 13 receive embedded opportunities within the curriculum and pastoral tutor time to learn how to stay safe online. New technologies bring exciting learning opportunities, but careful management and education is needed to ensure that everyone is safe in our digital world.
We will be holding an information evening to update parents in this ever changing world of online safety. I am pleased to offer an opportunity for all parents/carers of The Piggott School students to attend on Wednesday 17th January 2018. The event will be in the Library from 6:00-7.00pm.
Although some of the messages about online safety do not change, we feel the need to highlight everything that will be most relevant to protect your children online. If you would like to attend please email reception@piggottschool.org to book a place.

China Trip 2017
Published 28/11/17An incredibly long flight and a 7 hour time difference did not phase the nineteen Piggott students who were all set for a new adventure! They arrived in Chengdu to a warm welcome from the staff of Luzhou High School.
After a short rest, the activities began. From visiting forests, temples and farms, to attending calligraphy and Chinese taiji classes, the visit was action packed from beginning to end. In addition to the wide variety of activities that took place at Luzhou High School, and the exciting day trip experiences, the Piggott staff and students enjoyed spending time with some of the families from the school.
The group even managed to squeeze in a visit to the Giant Panda Research Base, in Chengdu, before their return flight!
Students and staff really made the most of this wonderful opportunity and they truly experienced, at first hand, Chinese culture, education and lifestyle. Many memories were created and they will no doubt be treasured for years to come.
Everyone is looking forward to the return visit from the Chinese students and staff next summer.
Until then, students can enjoy finding out more about the adventure during one of Mr Crawley’s upcoming assemblies!
