Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
SEND at The Piggott School: Charvil Primary
A child is identified as having SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities) if they require additional or different provision in order to access learning.
At the Piggott School: Charvil Primary, we believe that all pupils have the right to the highest quality education, regardless of any additional need. Our nurturing and inclusive approach to teaching and learning ensures that all pupils with additional needs have access to the national curriculum, tailored to the requirements of the individual.
Strategies and support for pupils identified as having SEND are recorded on Pupil Profiles or Individual Education Plans (IEPs), which are monitored by the school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and reviewed with parents.
If the school requests support from external agencies, such as occupation therapy or the Educational Psychology Service, any advice will be integrated into the pupil’s provision.
Our Local Offer, SEND information report and SEND policy give more detail on how the school identifies and supports pupils with additional needs.
